Notorious Bandit Leader Bello Turji Relocates Amid Intensified Military Offensive
Following intensified military operations in Nigeria’s North-West region, notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has reportedly moved his camp to a new location. This comes just days after the Nigerian military successfully killed a prominent bandit leader, Kachalla Halilu Sububu, in a major offensive. The relocation was confirmed by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who revealed that Turji and his fighters have moved from their hideout near Tsafe to Munhaye in Zamfara State.
Bello Turji, known for his involvement in terror activities such as abductions, killings, and the displacement of farmers, operates mainly in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Niger states. His activities have made him a primary target for the Nigerian military, which has been intensifying its efforts to neutralize him and other terrorist groups in the region.
In response to the security challenges, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, recently directed top military officials, including the Chief of Defence Staff, to relocate to Sokoto State to oversee operations personally. Matawalle emphasized the government’s determination to eliminate the threat posed by Turji and his gang, reassuring the public that President Bola Tinubu is closely monitoring the situation.
Sokoto serves as the headquarters for military operations covering Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states. The government continues to call on residents of the affected areas to remain vigilant while efforts to restore peace intensify.
