The immediate past Commissioner of Police of Abia State, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie has advised Police officers from the Abia State Police Command who are going for election duties in Edo State to avoid any act that may tarnish the image of the Police.
Onwuemelie, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and redeployed to Zone 15, Maiduguri, gave the advice on Wednesday at the Abia State Police Command headquarters in Umuahia while addressing the officers embarking on election duties to Edo State.
He noted that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun would not tolerate any form of misconduct.
During the handover ceremony to the new Commissioner of Police in Abia, Danladi Isa, the new AIG recalled his exploits as the Commissioner in Abia, saying the Command was able to tackle the kidnapping activities in Lokpanta Umunnochi axis of Abia and other criminal activities, explaining that the support he received from Governor Alex Otti, Police officers and other stakeholders played key roles in his success in Abia.
The AIG urged officers and men of Abia State Police Command to accord the new Abia CP all necessary support they gave to him during his time in Abia, saying that doing that would enable the new Commissioner serve the Abia people better.
