The leadership of the Omoku Communities Development Committee Forum (OCDCF), representing 27 communities in Omoku, has issued an open letter to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, urging him to address a growing concern in the area which could disturb the existing peace and order.
In the letter dated September 8, 2024, the OCDCF raised alarm that Bro. Felix Amaechi Obuah allegedly convened a meeting at his Omoku residence where he announced the formation of a parallel leadership structure for the Omoku Communities CDC forum, which the OCDCF claims threatens to undermine peace in the region.
The letter states
“We, the undersigned leadership of Omoku Communities Development Committee Forum (OCDCF) representing the 27 Omoku communities write to bring to your attention a concerning situation that has arisen in Omoku communities, which has the potential to disturb the peace and order we have all worked to maintain.
“It is on record that the 27 Omoku communities under the leadership of Comrade Emeka Ogbowu have witnessed peace since his assumption of office.
“On the 8th of September 2024, Bro. Felix Amaechi Obuah convened a meeting at his Omoku residence, where he announced the formation of a parallel leadership structure for Omoku communities CDC forum.
“His Excellency, we believe that Bro. Felix Obuah’s action is motivated by his discomfort with the present leadership of Omoku Communities Development Committee Forum (OCDCF) ably led by Comrade Emeka Ogbowu, which he perceives as too loyal to your administration since they are SIMplified.
“Again, Bro. Felix Obuah’s gimmicks are also aimed at manipulating and controlling a puppet leadership structure in Omoku communities, ultimately to have a firm grip on the activities of Oando Ple, a company which recently took over the operations of NAOC in OML 60 series.
“His intentions are to exploit our resources and undermine the interests of our people; as his antecedents are pointers to this submission. It is important to note that Bro. Felix Obuah does not possess the authority, to initiate a new leadership structure for the 27 Omoku communities under any guise.
“The actions of Bro. Felix Obuah poses a significant threat to peace and stability and can create divisions within our communities and disrupt the collaborative efforts that have been established for the betterment of our people.
“Furthermore, we are deeply concerned that despite Bro. Felix Obuah’s blatant schemes, His Eminence, Barr. (Dr.) Nwachuku Nnam Obuohna-Obi III, the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland, remains silent, allowing Bro. Felix Obuah to perpetrate this act under his watch and domain.
“We want to assure your excellency that Bro. Felix Obuah’s antics of compelling us to fight against any seating administration is dead on arrival. We shall continue to work with your administration for the prosperity of our communities and Rivers State in general.
“His Excellency, we most respectfully appeal that you intervene in this matter to prevent any escalation of crisis in Omoku Communities. We thank you for your attention to this pressing matter, and we look forward to your swift response and support in restoring order and unity in Omoku communities.”
