Former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig has won the Democratic gubernatorial primary in New Hampshire, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Craig, who entered Tuesday’s primary with a polling advantage, secured the nomination by defeating New Hampshire Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington and business owner Jon Kiper.
She received significant endorsements from U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey.
While New Hampshire has supported the Democratic presidential candidate in the past five cycles and its congressional delegation is entirely Democratic, outgoing Republican Governor Chris Sununu has served four terms, and the GOP holds majorities in the state Legislature.
On the Republican side, former Senator Kelly Ayotte was competing with former state Senate President Chuck Morse.
The Cook Political Report has classified the gubernatorial race as a “toss-up.”
In addition to New Hampshire, Delaware, and Rhode Island are holding primaries on Tuesday, marking the final congressional primaries of the cycle and setting the stage for a high-stakes eight-week stretch until Election Day.
