The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Muslim Community Welfare Foundation (FAMWEF) recently held its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Tunde Lemo Auditorium, where the 2022 and 2023 Annual Reports and Financial Statements were presented.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the Muslim community for their commitment to the University’s mission and vision.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged members to remain diligent, punctual, and to avoid actions that could harm their reputation.
Earlier in his Opening Remarks, the President of FAMWEF, Prof. Sikiru Olorode, expressed deep appreciation to members for their unwavering support and attendance despite prevailing economic difficulties.
He praised the community for fostering peace and cooperation within the campus and encouraged members to prioritise their health and well-being during these challenging times while remaining steadfast in their faith.
A key highlight of the AGM was a sermon delivered by Dr. Afiz Musa, Director of the Insight Institute for Islamic and Technical Studies (Mahadul Baseerah), Abeokuta.
His lecture, titled “Economic Hardship: A Model and Modest Way Out,” provided valuable insights into addressing economic challenges. Dr. Musa stressed the need for men to take responsibility in addressing issues identified by women and highlighted the dangers of overreliance on financial economies, which often lead to social vices and instability.
He urged members to be trustworthy, change their mindset, engage in agriculture, and practice prudent financial management by saving for future needs.
