The Anambra State government has announced a ban on the use of school compounds for social gatherings, marking a significant policy shift aimed at preserving the educational environment.
This decision was made public by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Ifeoma Agbaizu. The Commissioner emphasized that school premises should not be exploited for commercial purposes, warning that any school principal found violating this directive would face strict disciplinary action.
To ensure compliance, Prof. Chuma-Udeh has instructed the Chairmen of the Post Primary Schools Services Commission (PPSSC) and the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) to communicate this directive to all principals and headteachers across the state.
In her statement, the Commissioner reiterated that the policy is non-negotiable and that school grounds should remain dedicated to their primary purposeāeducation. She stressed that no external group should be permitted to misuse school facilities for non-educational purposes.
