Judge Greg Mathis and his wife, Linda Yvette Mathis, are ending their marriage after nearly 40 years. Linda Mathis filed for divorce from the “Judge Mathis” star on Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences.” In the filing, she listed their separation date as July 17 and requested spousal support while asking the court to deny Greg Mathis’s right to seek support from her. The couple, who have no minor children, did not disclose whether they had a prenuptial agreement, and Linda Mathis also requested that Greg cover her legal fees.
The Mathises, who married in 1985, have been together since their college days. Judge Mathis, known for his long-running television show, “Judge Mathis,” which aired for 24 seasons, recently announced he would host a new courtroom program called “Mathis Court With Judge Mathis.” The show was canceled by Warner Bros. last year.
Mathis, the longest-running Black male TV host and second-longest-reigning arbitrator in courtroom TV history, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022. He and his family, including his wife and four children, appeared in the 2022 docuseries “Mathis Family Matters.”
