Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s manager, has confirmed that Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are no longer training with the first team and has encouraged them to leave the club.
Maresca insists that he is working with a core group of 21 players and that the remaining 15-20 are training separately.
While acknowledging the perceived chaos from the outside, Maresca asserts that the situation is not as disorderly as it appears.
He also emphasized that he is not concerned about the players’ contract lengths, stating, “They can even have a 20-year contract, it’s not my point. I don’t care.”
โI just try to be honest. I told Raheem heโs going to struggle to get minutes with us. Chilly, heโs going to struggle here tooโ.
โI am not working with 42 players. I am working with 21 playersโ.
โThe other 15-20 players are training apart.ย I don’t see them. It’s not a mess like it looks from outside. Absolutely notโ.
โThey can even have 20 years contract, itโs not my point. I donโt careโ.
