The National Association Of University Students has call on the Nigeria Government to swing into action to ensure the safety of the Medical students who were kidnapped in Benue State.
The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has said that it is deeply outraged by the recent kidnapping of 20 medical students on the Otukpo-Otukpa-Enugu Road, which occurred on Thursday, August 15.
The students were en route to a significant academic convention organised by the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students when the ugly incident occurred.
President, National Association of University Students, Comrade Obaji Marshal in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, called on relevant government agencies to take immediate and effective action to secure the safe return of the kidnapped students and to prevent such incidents from recurring.
We completely condemn and frown at the sad and preventable event of the kidnapping of 20 students of the University of Jos and the University of Maiduguri who were on their way to Enugu State for the annual national convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS).
The Nigerian Association of University Students (NAUS) in a statement made by the Deputy Senate President, Comr. Alade Abayomi OldMan cannot and will not sit and watch while the lives of its harmless members are threatened by some unruly elements whose continuous terror is motivated by the ineffectiveness of the security architecture of the country.
We, therefore, and strictly so, issue a seven-days ultimatum to the Federal Government and the security agencies concerned to rescue our students from the captivity of these unconfined barbarians.
The Federal Government should know that NAUS will not seek any form of comfort until these victims regain their safety and that our discomfort will have serious effects. He added
