where many recently relocated individuals pay to sleep for eight hours
A Nigerian man based in the U.S. has shed light on the challenging housing situation in America, revealing his own experience from several years ago. He recounted how he had to pay $80 to sleep in a “pod-like box” for just 8 hours a day.
The payment covered only this limited time, after which he had to vacate to allow another person who had paid for the next slot to use the box.
For the rest of the day, he was left without accommodation. He shared photos of these sleeping pods, many of which were constructed within a room and secured with wooden doors.
Each box is a small, cramped space designed to hold only a mattress and lacks basic amenities like fans or other appliances necessary for a comfortable sleep.
This arrangement highlights the severe housing shortages and the extreme measures some individuals are forced to take to secure a place to sleep in the U.S.
