Disney Cruise Line is set to expand its fleet to 13 ships with the order of four new vessels. Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, made the announcement at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event in Anaheim, California, revealing that Disney has reached an agreement with a German shipbuilder, Meyer Werft.
The new ships are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2031, although specific details about their size have not yet been disclosed. Meyer Werft noted that this order represents the highest value in the company’s history.
Currently, Disney Cruise Line operates five ships, with four additional vessels under construction. The existing fleet includes the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy, and Wish, which accommodate between 2,700 and 4,000 passengers.
The Disney Treasure is set to debut in December from Port Canaveral, Florida, joining the Fantasy and Wish. Disney has also announced the Disney Destiny, which will begin sailing from Florida in November 2025, featuring a Broadway-style show, “Disney Hercules.” Disney’s expansion includes plans for the Asian market next year with the Disney Adventure, which will be based in Singapore and is the largest ship in the fleet, accommodating an estimated 6,700 passengers.
Additionally, Disney has agreements to offer year-round cruises to Japan by early 2029 and recently opened Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in The Bahamas.
D’Amaro highlighted that expanding the fleet will offer more people worldwide the chance to experience Disney’s unique vacation offerings at sea.
