The Ondo State Government, through the Office of the Special Adviser on Environment and the directors of the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency (OSEPA), has unveiled a sweeping environmental protection initiative, engaging with prominent media houses, deploying cutting-edge technologies, and implementing sustainable practices to address the state’s environmental challenges while driving job and wealth creation.
This multifaceted approach aims to raise awareness about environmental issues, promote sustainable practices, support government initiatives, and create economic opportunities through collaborative efforts with media partners, including Fresh FM 102.9, Breeze FM 91.9, Empire FM 104.5, Crest FM 109.1, HOPE Newspaper, and OSRC.
The initiative encompasses a range of activities, including:
– Courtesy visits to media houses to foster collaborative relationships and promote environmental awareness
– Launch of the “Green Revolution” agenda, featuring a “Waste to Wealth” system to facilitate plastic waste collection, weighing, and payment, creating job opportunities in the waste management sector
– Decentralization of the waste management system to improve efficiency and effectiveness, enabling private sector participation and job creation
– Recruitment of additional health workers for environmental hygienic care, providing employment opportunities in the health and environment sectors
– Utilization of innovative technologies, such as mobile apps and data analytics, to support environmental protection efforts and create jobs in the tech sector.
– Community engagement and sensitization programs to educate citizens on environmental best practices and create awareness about job opportunities in the environmental sector
