Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action to address Nigerians’ grievances. In a statewide broadcast on Sunday, Fintiri emphasized that merely acknowledging the concerns of Nigerians is insufficient. He stressed that people should not have to wait indefinitely for concrete actions.
Speaking about the #EndBadGovernance protests in Adamawa, Fintiri praised the residents for their peaceful conduct and highlighted the necessity for the Federal Government to respond to the peopleโs demands. He acknowledged that while the protest may have been unpopular in some states due to its execution, the underlying message and demands are valid. Fintiri noted that hunger and widespread poverty are undeniable issues.
The governor emphasized that as leaders, government officials must not only listen but also act on citizens’ concerns. โIt is not enough to say we have heard; we must demonstrate that we are addressing the issues,โ he said. Following the initial days of intense protests on August 1 and 2, the demonstrations in Adamawa have largely subsided without any reported violence.
