Chevron announced Friday that it will move its headquarters from San Ramon, California, to Houston, Texas, by the end of 2024.
The move follows a lawsuit from California, which accused Chevron and other oil companies of misleading the public about climate change impacts. Chevron’s CEO, Mike Wirth, criticized the lawsuit as benefiting lawyers and politicians rather than addressing global climate issues.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott welcomed Chevron’s relocation, while the company stated the move would have minimal immediate impact on its San Ramon employees.
Additionally, Chevron announced several leadership changes: Nigel Hearne is retiring, with Mark Nelson taking over, and Rhonda Morris and Colin Parfitt are also retiring, with Michelle Green and new appointments set to replace them.
