In Kerala, India, four people were rescued from a house on Friday, three days after severe landslides devastated the region.
The landslides, triggered by heavy rain in the Wayanad district, buried or swept away many as they slept, resulting in at least 205 deaths with nearly 200 still missing.
The rescue efforts gained momentum after the construction of a 190-foot bridge by army engineers, which improved access to the affected areas.
Initial rescue operations were hindered by the destruction of the main bridge and challenging terrain.
The rescue teams, now including additional forces and advanced technology, continue to search for survivors and recover bodies, with significant efforts concentrated along the Chaliyar River and its banks.
