Ifa verse refers to seven different Ife.
The first one and possibly the original one, is Ife Oodaiye, others are
Ife Nleere
Ife Ooye
Ife Ooye-Lagbomoro
Ife Wara
Otu-Ife
And the present day Ife referred to as Ile-Ife.
Further Investigation into other Yorùbá books written by one of the high chiefs of Ife said that the early history of Ife can be divided into three;
Ife Oodaiye,Ile Owuro,Ibiti ojumo tii mo wa
Ife Ooyelagbo,city of survivors
Ile-Ife founded with the arrival of Oduduwa and his group.
Many Yorùbá people think that these towns existed before the founding Ile-Ife.This is not correct. For the avoidance of doubt,it should be stated that these towns were founded by Ife people who were either princes, hunters or warriors from Ile-Ife.
Some of these towns are:
Ife Odan
Ife Ijebu called Ijebu-Ife (now in Ogun state)
Ife-Olukotun
Ife-Ijumu
Ifewara(now in Òsun State)
Ifetedo (now in Òsun State).
