CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF DEDICATION TO COMMUNITY SERVICE(2014-2024)
Chief Funso Ogunla’s rise from a humble background to a global stature is an inspiring story; a culmination of discipline and dedication to growth against all odds. He graduated from Methodist High School, Owo in 1981 after he earlier completed his elementary at Our Saviour’s Anglican Primary School, Emure-ile. Developing a strong passion for his career, he spent two(2) years working as an account clerk at Community Grammar School, Emure-ile before he joined the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) in 1993.
Funso Ogunla defied limitations and continued his pursuit for education in 2007 when he was admitted into Arizona University in the United States and obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and later Master’s Degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University, also in the same country. He is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and National Criminal Justice Society(NCJS) both in the United States of America.
He would later co-found the Destiny Behavioural Health Residential Care in the USA. Heading the establishment as the Chief Executive Officer(CEO), he oversees the significant revenue growth and geographic expansion of the company.
Chief Funso Ogunla is a notable philanthropist with impeccable impacts within and beyond his hometown—Emure-ile. In 2016, he singlehandedly built an ultra modern Nigeria Police facility in Emure-ile which replaced the deplorable facility that has existed in the community for decades. This singular act contributed to the upgrading of Emure-ile to a Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police.
He would also later establish the first ever Microfinance Bank in Emure-ile, a critical institution that contributes to the vital development of the community.
Recognizing his unquantifiable impacts, the Elemure of Emure-ile, Oba Simeon Adedubaje Adeyefa honoured Chief Funso Ogunla with a chieftancy title —the Agbelesebioba of Emure-ile—in 2018. In 2020, Oba Ajibade Gbadegeshin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo and Oba Alaba Omotunde Adako took Elemure’s lead and honoured Chief Funso Ogunla as the Adafen Aare Gbadegun of Owo Kingdom and Atunwase of Iyere Land respectively.
Chief Funso Ogunla is one of the first set of Awardees of Emure-ile Future Pride Youth Forum. We will continue to recognize and appreciate his significant impacts and continued contribution in our Forum, especially towards the remarkable strides we have made in the last 10 years as a forum of youth and his immense contributions to important aspects of development in Emure-ile.
