The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo Joint Campus Council (JCC) is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of an Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) student in a villa near Landmark Villa Medoline. Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased, and we extend our deepest condolences to the student community.
This loss highlights the need for increased vigilance and safety measures in our academic institutions. We, therefore, urge students to be vigilant and mindful of their safety, especially during late-night hours. Refrain from engaging in physical altercations or violent confrontations. Let us uphold the sanctity of our educational institutions and ensure they remain centers of learning and growth, not zones of fear and violence.
We also call upon the AAUA Student Union, University management, and security operatives to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into this incident. Justice must be served, and the perpetrators must be held accountable. We demand no less from our fellow students.
This tragic incident serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. We vow to support the AAUA community in this time of grief. We are committed to fostering a safer and more peaceful learning environment for all students.
We extend our unwavering support to the AAUA student community, the AAUA Student Union, and the family of the deceased. May their memories be a blessing, and may we strive to honor their legacy through our actions.
In the same vein, we respectfully urge the Akungba Divisional Police Officer to fully dedicate resources and attention to this case. We call upon the DPO to conduct an expeditious investigation and ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
The Akungba Police Station has a vital role to play in ensuring that our campuses remain safe spaces for learning and growth. We urge the DPO to work closely with the University management and student union to enhance security measures and prevent future tragedies.
The swiftness and thoroughness of the investigation will demonstrate the commitment of the police to the safety of our students. We expect no less from those entrusted with the task of protecting our community.
The NANS Jcc Ondo Axis will continue to monitor the progress of this case and advocate for justice on behalf of our students.
The security and safety of our students are of utmost importance. We expect the police to uphold their duty to protect and serve our community with the utmost professionalism and urgency.
Yours in Struggle.
