The Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, intervenes to ensure a peaceful and fair process, amidst rising tensions and misinformation surrounding the upcoming Motor Drivers’ Union elections.
Minister Swaray separately engaged with both the incumbent and aspiring presidents to address the disputes threatening the integrity of the elections, stating his commitment to an inclusive election where all participants would feel confident in the process’s fairness and transparency.
The minister assures both parties during the meeting that they want to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election, urging them to prioritize peace and maintain it before, during, and after the elections.
Having identified a number of unresolved issues and the heated atmosphere, Swaray directed for a postponement of the elections, adding, the delay will create time for the disputes to be resolved and to establish a clear and agreed-upon roadmap for the election process.
