The late Aketi, as he was fondly called by his associates and admirers was the architect of modern Ondo State; a man celebrated for his truthfulness, sincerity, bluntness, and uncommon courage.
Arakunrin Akeredolu was more than a Governor; he was an unrepentant apostle of constitutional democracy and a human rights crusader. Using the instrumentality of the law, he advocated tirelessly for justice, fairness, and equity. His legal prowess and unwavering commitment to these principles earned him respect and admiration, both within and outside the legal community.
We will continue to remember the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON for the legacy projects and programmes he conscientiously implemented during his tenure as the Governor of our dear Sunshine State. These projects and programmes have transformed the entire landscape of Ondo State and continue to impact positively on the people. His revolutionization of agricultural production through aggressive rural development was a key component of the REDEEMED Agenda of his administration.
One of his most courageous and impactful actions was the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as the Amotekun Corps. In the face of opposition and personal risk, Akeredolu championed the formation of this security outfit to combat the menace of killer Fulani herdsmen and ensure the safety of his people. His dedication to this cause was a testament to his willingness to put the welfare of his constituents above personal and political ambitions.
Today, as we commemorate his posthumous birthday, we mourn the untimely loss of a visioneer, a quintessential leader, a consummate administrator and a political firebrand, but we also take solace in the knowledge that he lived a fulfilled life.
