Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD and Vice Governor Atty. John Edward G. Gando led the distribution of financial assistance under the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on July 19, 2024 at the Office of the Congresswoman in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
A total of 431 beneficiaries from the Municipality of Jordan received Php 3,000 cash aid each. The recipients include farmers, fisherfolks, kasambahay, and marginalized workers.
Vice Governor Gando said that this is the first tranche of the payout for beneficiaries from Jordan as the remaining batch will receive financial grant during the distribution scheduled on July 24, 2024.
“Kamo ang ginpili nga unahon anay kay para nga…siling namon mabudlay ang pangabuhi subong, medyo gipit-gipit gid. Indi man ini dako nga kantidad pero at least makasapin-sapin lang,” Vice Governor Gando said.
According to Governor Nava, any help that he and Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD secured from the national government, they convey to the people of Guimaras.
He thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez for the provision of financial aid for Guimarasnons through AKAP.
“Ginapasalamatan ta gid ang ini nga kahigayunan nga may ayuda sa aton nga mga pumuluyo, programa ni President BBM. Si President BBM kag si Speaker Romualdez nagapatigayon sang programa upod kay Cong. Lucille sa sini nga programa nga AKAP,” he said
Governor Nava and Atty. Gando both extended gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Office of Congresswoman Nava for facilitating today’s payout of financial grant under AKAP.
Liga ng mga Barangay – Guimaras Chapter President Bong-Bong Malones, Executive Assistant III Gerardo Gaitan were also present during the event.
The Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) was designed for those classified in the ānear poorā segment to protect low-income earners from inflation that severely affect their buying power amidst the price increases of different commodities.
