Viewers of Holland’s 2-1 victory over Poland on Sunday could be forgiven for turning away when TV cameras cut to boss Ronald Koeman, who appeared to pick his nose and then put the same finger in his mouth.
Koeman and his squad were overjoyed when substitute Woug Weghorst , scored a later Winner, completing a comeback to start their Euro 2024 campaign with a win.
Adam Bulska gave Poland a first-half lead that was quickly taken away through Cody Gakpo’s deflected effort 13 minutes later.
But Koeman soon went viral on social media after footage of him in the dugout spread online, where he appeared to be sat wiping his nose with his hand and arm, before putting his finger in his nose and then his mouth. He then got up out of his seat and began giving orders to his team from the sideline.
Low apologised at Euro 2016 after he was caught reaching down the front and back of his trousers during the German team’s opening victory over Ukraine, captured in full by TV cameras.
“I saw the pictures as well and obviously sometimes you do things subconsciously. It happened and I am sorry,” said the World -Cup winning coach. “It was adrenaline and concentration. I will try to behave differently in the future.”
