Nigeria is a country situated in the western part of Africa. It borders cameroon,Chad,Niger and Benin republic. It is the most populous country in Africa and also known as the “most populous black nation on earth”.
Nigeria as a country is very diverse. It’s the most diverse country in Africa with over 250 ethnic groups with Yoruba, hausa and igbo being the major tribes. Over 500 languages are spoken in Nigeria.
Nigeria boost of the city Lagos nick named as the “centre of excellence”. Lagos is known as the economic hub of Africa and top 4 richest city in Africa. Lagos is also seen as the heart of the African entertainment industry as many prominent figures in the music industry seems to erupt or gain fame and publicity while in Lagos.
Nigeria as a country has the most friendly people on the African continent. It’s a place where you won’t be called a foreigner as long as you walk around with your God given melanin (black skin)
Nigeria is also Nick named the “Giant of Africa” and this has been the centre of debate for most African countries who feels like Nigeria is not worth of being called the giant of Africa. The title “giant of Africa” was said to be accorded to Nigeria because of it’s large population, vast natural resources, large economy and achievements on the global stage.
As years roll by many Africans believe that Nigeria does not deserve the title because they feel their currency is better than the naira, their country is more developed than Nigeria, they have the best cities in Africa and all that.
This has place most Nigerians in a hot spot to feel this kind of objection for something that is their birth right. YES!!!! I said birth right. The title “giant of Africa” is Nigeria and Nigerians birth right and no one can take it from them.

Nigerians are proud people and have this sense of self awareness. They have this feeling of national consciousness and they know how to celebrate their own. Nigerians are very proud of their country and it’s nick name that they talk about it and always let the world know that they are the “giant of Africa”.
Other African countries have failed to imitate this habit from Nigerians. Others have refused to have this sense of self awareness. Why don’t the Tanzanians talk about being the “brain of Africa” ? Why don’t they hold onto it and manifest it the way Nigerians do to the extent that others are jealous of the title? Why don’t the Zambia talk about being “the real Africa”? Why don’t they hold onto it and manifest it.
Nigerians are great people who believe that the sky is their limits that’s why they try all their best to uphold that name “giant of Africa”.
Why don’t the Kenyans put more effort in making them the actual “pride of Africa”? Nigeria has made a name for itself that it has become a global brand. Nigerians are known in the USA as the most educated immigrants group, they are also known in the UK to contribute greatly to the total amount of medical personnel. It is also because of this “Nigerian spirit” that notable figures like Akon has crowned nigerians the most smartest people on earth.
Nigerians are known to be smart people around the world and they also house most of the notable figures in the academic sector of life. They have the likes of professor Wole soyinka who was the first black african to win a noble laureate in literature, they have the likes of Ngozi okonjo-iweala who was the first black african woman to head the world trade organizations, they have the likes of chike obi the first mathematician to graduate with a perfect CGPA of 5.0,they have the likes of Ngozi chimamanda Adichie,Onyebuchi Florence Emecheta and many others who are known as one of the world’s most notable authors.
It’s only Nigeria that has something called “the nigerian spirit” because they have the sense of self awareness and national consciousness. A Nigerian is quick to sell and represent their nick name “giant of Africa” while other countries (except South Africa and Ghana) are ashamed to flaunt their countries nick name. Why don’t people from Malawi uphold their title the warm heart of Africa.
I want to also point this out that before Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa they were called the African giant so GDP has nothing to do with the title “giant of Africa”.
So my dear African brothers I want to ask you some questions.
What is your country nick name?
How proud are you about your country?
Does anyone has the right to take away your country’s nick name?
Does your country have something like the “Nigerian spirit”?
Why can’t you be proud of your country title like Ghanaians who are always proud to point at that they are the black star and gateway to Africa?
Why aren’t you proud of your country title like the way my Mzansi🇿🇦 are proud of their title “rainbow nation”?
Nigeria is the “giant of Africa” and no one has the right to take their birth rights ✍️✍️🇳🇬🇳🇬………
