Valve on the gas cylinder bottle allows the gas to pass through the regulator to the appliance being fuelled. When the regulator is turned to the “ON” position, the supply of gas to the gas burner is activated. The pin inside goes down and releases the gas and the regulator works as a chamber room where it gets released. Now, there is only one way for the gas to flow through the hose pipe and it reaches the stove.
An “O” ring made of rubber inserted in side the neck valve, is used as cushioned seal to avoid iron to iron contact and it’s renewed every time the cylinder bottle is refilled. The seal rubber (O-ring) helps reduce metal to metal friction of valve and regulator. It also helps tighten regulator on the gas cylinder valve. When ordering for gas cylinder bottles, check whether sealing ring (O-rubber) is in place inside the cylinder valve by feeling the same with the help of your little finger tip. Do not attempt to use cylinder bottles of the O-ring rubber is missing. Put back the safety cap and contact your distributor for replacement of gas cylinder, as this is very dangerous.
On rare occasions, a gas cylinder bottle may not refill if the sealing ring is not place properly, causing difficulty in coupling. This follows escape of gas with a hissing sound.
