Governor Aiyedatiwa moved to Ondo North Senatorial District yesterday after an eventful tour across Ondo South and Central Senatorial Districts. As a man who knows what it means to govern, Aiyedatiwa concluded a marathon security meeting in his office before running down to meet APC members and leaders at Oka Akoko, the headquarter of Akoko South West Local Government. After all, governance must not suffer because of politics. Importantly, government exists primarily to protect lives and properties of citizens. Governor Aiyedatiwa knows better because he’s responsible.
Expectedly, Akoko South West showed strength as the true home of the progressives. All notable leaders agreed to support the Governor in his bid to continue his purposeful leadership beyond 2025. I doubt whether there is anyone who actually matters in the political firmament of Akoko South West that is not yet with Governor Aiyedatiwa. I say this with all sense of modesty and truth. If any, please, mention that bigwig who can pull fifty people in Akoko South West APC that’s not supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa. I want to be challenged.
In Ifon, the headquarter of Ose Local Government, APC stakeholders and members gave their assurances. They stood for continuity of good governance under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa. They were more than encouraged with the good works of Governor Aiyedatiwa in just few months. Ose Local Government didn’t hide their acceptance.
However, as the campaign train hit Ọwọ, the home of the late boss of Governor Aiyedatiwa, everything changed. Owo literally crowned Aiyedatiwa as he was presented with the greatest symbol of royalty. No aspirant got that honour. Governor Aiyedatiwa got that for a reason. It is beyond politics. It is sacred. It is adoption.
For the records, Ọwọ trooped out like an overflowing ocean for a reason. They saw Governor Aiyedatiwa as the greatest of Aketi’s legacy that must not be abandoned. Even in death, the indelible words of Aketi came to life. The people of Ọwọ didn’t forget that their late son preferred his then loyal Deputy to succeed him. They adopted him. They thanked him for the perfect choice of Dr Olayide Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
Beyond politics, Governor Aiyedatiwa made history in Ọwọ kingdom yesterday. All notable politicians from Owo joined the campaign train. This signifies an end to strife as there were moments culminating in perfect alignment and reordering of steps in the political calculation of Ọwọ yesterday.
The Governor concludes his tour today as he visits Akoko North West, Akoko North East and Akoko South East Local Government areas.
