Igbokoda, Nigeria – April 7, 2024 – In a remarkable demonstration of unity and community spirit, a coalition of organizations including the Nigeria Navy Forward Operating Base Igbokoda, Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, Yali Network Hub (Ondo South Coordinator, Miss Morayo Itiolu), Sojitade Foundation, National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) Members serving in Igbokoda (CLO, Ifa Damilola), and the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) (President, Sen. Abejoye Kehinde Bojan) came together for a massive cleanup exercise in Ilaje.
The cleanup campaign, organized by Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative under the leadership of Akingbade Toluwa-Jolomi, saw enthusiastic participation from representatives of various sectors, including the navy, youth organizations, and community leaders. The event aimed not only to beautify the environment but also to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and community involvement.
Captain N.W Alushi of the Nigeria Navy Forward Operating Base Igbokoda expressed his appreciation for the collaborative effort, stating, “This initiative underscores the power of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. We are proud to join hands with our community partners to make a tangible difference in Ilaje.”
Mr. Adegold, Coordinator of Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative Ambassadors, emphasized the significance of youth engagement in community development initiatives. “Through initiatives like these, we empower young people to become active agents of positive change in their communities,” he remarked.
Miss Morayo Itiolu, the Coordinator of Yali Network Hub in Ondo South, praised the initiative’s inclusivity and stressed the importance of sustainable practices in preserving the environment for future generations.
Mr. Enikanoselu, Head of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EOHAN) – Ilaje Chapter, commended the collaborative effort and emphasized the need for sustained action to address environmental concerns in the region.
The cleanup exercise saw active participation from NYSC Members serving in Igbokoda, represented by the Corps Liaison Officer, Ifa Damilola, who highlighted the role of youth in driving social and environmental progress.
Sen. Abejoye Kehinde Bojan, President of the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS), commended the joint effort, stating, “As students, it is our responsibility to contribute to the betterment of our communities. This cleanup campaign is a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all participating organizations to continue collaborating on initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and community empowerment in Ilaje and beyond.
