The Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) recently hosted its monthly developmental discussion, featuring a public space on X (formerly Twitter) with Christopher Olusa, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of OSYN, as the host. The guest speaker for the event was Kelvin Solomon Kelvin O., popularly known as KSO. The theme of the discussion was “Rallying Together: Uniting Ondo State Youths for Progress Ahead of the Elections.”
During the discussion, KSO emphasized the importance of youth involvement in the upcoming elections, likening it to the passion displayed during football games. He stressed that elections are not a matter of life or death and urged youths to transcend political affiliations, focusing instead on contributing positively to society and finding avenues for personal growth and development.
KSO highlighted the need for youths to be more creative in generating income and securing opportunities, particularly in rural areas where information may be scarce. He called on OSYN to intensify efforts in informing and mobilizing youths, especially in rural communities, to support and promote government initiatives.
Furthermore, KSO expressed his willingness to serve as a spokesperson for youth interests within the government and urged OSYN to enhance its visibility and influence, even within university campuses. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the existing network of youths in positions of influence to advocate for youth-centric policies and programs.
Throughout the discussion, various participants shared their perspectives and concerns. Fides proposed means through which youths can explore creativity, to which KSO assured support through OSYN if the ideas are solid. Comrade Safety expressed doubts about achieving unity due to political differences, but KSO remained optimistic, citing the government’s youth-friendly stance. Shoki raised concerns about the use of political thugs during campaigns, which KSO dismissed as propaganda, emphasizing the discipline of youths. Illawole urged OSYN to promote peaceful participation in voting, a sentiment echoed by KSO.
In conclusion, the event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among youths, with KSO’s insights and OSYN’s initiatives driving the conversation towards unity, progress, and positive youth engagement in Ondo State.
