Political economist, Prof Pat Utomi, has recounted how Shyngle Wigwe, the father of the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, visited him after an accident that almost claimed his life in 1991.

In a post on his X handle on Monday, Utomi wrote that he felt pain while hugging Wigwe’s father and prayed for fortitude for the Wigwes.
He wrote, “Today was heartbreak. In 1991 when I was a breath away from death from accident near Asaba, the first person I saw from Lagos after surgery in Onitsha was Engr Shyngle Wigwe. He came with his son, Osita, who would pass on similar accident years later. Today I felt pain hugging him
“Deep sincere prayer for fortitude for the Wigwes and for peaceful repose of Herbert, wife and son and the others on that flight and indeed all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God.”
The Peoplesmind reports that Wigwe, his wife, Doreen; son, Chizi; and a former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, lost their lives in an helicopter crash which occurred near a border town between California and Nevada in the US on Friday.
