The Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC) has urged the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to go beyond providing palliatives to governors and focus on alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians.
The call was made by OCSC Chairman, Waheed Lawal, during a protest against the high cost of living and economic hardship.
The protest, titled “OSOGBO ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, President Bola Tinubu let the poor breathe,” moved from Nelson Mandela Freedom Park to the Olaiya-Overhead Bridge in Osogbo.
Lawal criticized the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for backing out of a proposed nationwide protest, stating that the decision was disappointing.
He emphasized the need for unity among labor unions to address the economic challenges facing Nigerians.
Wale Adebisi, Director of Ola-Oni Centre, highlighted the significance of the protest and called on President Tinubu to fulfill promises made to Nigerians, especially after the removal of fuel subsidy.
