The Supreme Court has delivered a unanimous judgment, dismissing the appeal filed by Muhammad Sani Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against the election of Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas.
A five-member panel of the court ruled on Thursday that the NNPP and its candidate failed to establish their case challenging Kefas’ election.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, who read the lead judgment, emphasized that the NNPP and its candidate were unable to provide sufficient evidence to support their claim that the majority of valid votes did not elect Kefas.
The Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which had earlier dismissed the appeal based on incomplete records of appeal.
Justice Lawal further held that the Court of Appeal was justified in rejecting the appeal, upholding Kefas’ election as Taraba Governor.
