There was panic among staff as Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, authorized the immediate termination of the appointments of eight top government officials.
Those sacked are directors from the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS). This development came few days after the Supreme Court judgment which upheld the victory of the Governor.
Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, the Chairman of the Board, disclosed their dismissal through an official circular. The statement directed the affected directors to promptly hand over all duties and responsibilities to their respective deputies.
In the statement, it was outlined, “The affected directors include: Director Assessment, Muhammad Kabir Umar, Director Human Resource, Kabiru Magaji, Director Government Business, Ibrahim Sammani; Aminu Umar Kawu, Director Road and Other Taxes, and Muhd Auwal Abdullahi, Director Tax Audit, Investigation & Debt Management.
“Other Directors include Abubakar Garba Yusuf, Director of ICT, Hamisu Ado Magaji, Director of PAYE, and Bashir Yusuf Madobi, Director of Legal & Enforcement.”
The action was described as part of the ongoing initiatives of the current administration to streamline public services. The statement emphasized, “I am directed to inform you that the mentioned directors have been relieved of their responsibilities and are to hand over to their deputies immediately.”
