…Investing in Humanity is the only genuine legacy that will outlive all of us
By Aliyu Hussein Taye
We must all learn valuable lessons from the death of political leaders in Nigeria overtime and what the future holds for this country.
Our effort in developing humanity should be more important than gigantic mansions that will not even serve as shade to our graves.
Why not build and create a forever legacy that will continually be remembered even after death?
We have recorded the death of prominent citizens of this great nation and they will never come back to live and dwell in their beautiful mansions, and they will no longer enjoy the luxury of fleets in their garages.
We were bereaved and sad, but we must also be concerned about ourselves. The privilege of existence can never be forever. We will all die and join them.
If only they have the opportunity of resurrection to live for another 24hours, maybe they would have ordered the withdrawal of all the funds hidden in numerous banks all over the world, and give them out to the less-privileged.
Maybe they would order the sale of all the mansions and use the funds to impact the lives of the poor people who only need food and clothing
But it’s too late and the hands of time can’t be reversed
The opportunity to change and reverse the past actions and decisions as it affects families and entire populace is not given to the dead.
This is the differences between the dead and the living.
For us that are privileged to still enjoy this rare privilege of existence and opportunity to take decisions on what to do next, the time is now. Change for good.
Prioritize the wellbeing, safety, welfare and growth of the people you represent.
They should be as important as your family.
They deserve to enjoy the goodlife enjoyed by your children and wife.
They are also special and deserve the best life.
As representatives of the people, you must prioritize and practically take part in developmental agenda capable of impacting the lives of the people you are leading.
Selfless and exemplary leadership quality must be a template to be thought to generation yet unborn.
Perhaps, politicians and elites in Nigeria can do better in the area of wealth generation by creating a platform for self-growth and talent discovery.
Nigerian youth in their appreciable number are not only doing exceptionally well, but are intellectually sound and are ready for such opportunities capable of facilitating and enhancing growth in their field of endeavours.
We can invest in that strength of ours and create pool of professionals within the next decade and eventually take the lead in global terrain of knowledge economy driven by information and communication technology.
As elites, we must do the needful and also contribute our little quota to building the society that we all envisaged.
Collectively, we can do more to better the lives of those around us and the society at large.
Nigeria is not a poor nation considering the enormous natural and human resources at our reach.
But we are said to be poverty capital of the world.
Poverty is an endemic scourge in our society and it must be tackled by whatever means.
Efforts must be put forth to ensure a drastic reduction, if not elimination to this generational menace in our society.
We must invest heavily in knowledge and human capital development as a government, group and individual.
We must change the orientation of our youths and equipped them with right set of skills and information.
This is the only way to sincerely eradicate the endemic scourge called poverty and also the only way to create and generate wealth in a sustainable manner that will guarantee a prosperous society we can all be proud us.
Please do something today to raise people from poverty to prosperity.
