The late genius, Albert Hestein, said, and I quote, “History, posterity, and God will not only judge the wicked people who destroy the world but also the good ones who choose to look away while the evils are being perpetrated.”
Where is Aketi? Where are Ondo State’s elders? Where are their voices? Where is the President of Nigeria? Are they all looking away while some miscreants are daily looting the state in the name of the ailing governor?
There is a big problem in the Sunshine State due to the ailment of Arakunrin Akeredolu Oluwarotimi SAN, the executive governor, and the resolution of his trusted aides called the cabal who have vowed that the rule of law won’t prevail. Since the return of Aketi to Nigeria after 3 months of medical leave in an undisclosed hospital in Germany, following a rumour of nursing a terminal illness, the number one citizen of the Sunshine State has decided to govern the state by proxies, with no single statement directly from him. Instead, those close to him have turned themselves into usurpers, using his name to perpetrate a lot of evils to the detriment of our future.
Ondo State under the current governor has been so unlucky. Apart from appointing his biological son as a member of his cabinet, cum unofficial Prime Minister, the entire state’s affairs have been reduced to a family business where Aketi’s immediate family members are the shareholders. The most powerful First Lady in the history of Sunshine State, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, has grown wings, insulting political bigwigs at her will and planning to install a successor for her husband, not minding whose ox is gored. It’s on record that this Ibo woman was the first to expose the seriousness of her husband’s illness while scolding a perceived mistress, cum side chic, popularizing the word “peradventure,” insinuating the current situation when Aketi would be incapacitated or die, God forbid.
In their desperation, the cabal, tried to impeach his Deputy Governor, H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, having realized that this Ilaje man is not foolish as they had earlier thought. The First Lady, along with other members of the cabal, used their puppets in the Ondo state House of Assembly to attempt the impeachment of the number two citizen, to pave the way for their evil plots. They never envisaged that the citizens could speak up for Aketi’s victimized deputy in this manner. The loving indigenes of our dear state came together in one voice and prevailed against the Jezebelic plans of this woman in Alagbaka.
In all fairness to our people, they showed uncommon love to the ailing governor when he was away for treatment. A prayer competition was ongoing, both genuine and counterfeit. The embattled Deputy Governor organized a prayer program for him at the Government House chapel, Alagbaka. Unfortunately, this gesture hasn’t been reciprocated by Arakunrin after his return. He quickly called a meeting in Ibadan, where the entire state’s political and administrative machinery was seconded to give him a heroic welcome, but he has not been seen in any part of Ondo state where he oversees.
There are a lot of facts on the ground. The impeachment plot against H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has failed. Also, Aketi is seriously sick and unfit for governance, which is currently at a cul-de-sac. The only person who can bail out the state is President Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, behaving exactly like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. During the reign of President Umaru Musa Yaradua, the Fulani man was incapacitated, similar to the current condition of Arakunrin. However, the Nigerian First Lady then, Mrs Turai Yaradua, along with other kitchen cabinet members, started playing a hide-and-seek game, holding the entire country by the jugular and refusing then Vice President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, to act as stated by the constitution. The popular Baba Iyabo stepped in as an elder statesman and quenched the ungodly plan by the enemies of the nation at that time.
No doubt, the elders of Ondo state, like Oba Olu Falae, Oba Gen. Olufemi Olutoye, Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa, Pa Reuben Fashoranti, Eng. Paul Akinyelure, Gen. Olu Bajowa, and others need to meet and talk to President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the need for the constitution to prevail. Less I forget, I should use this medium to appreciate Chief Imam of Ondo state, Alhaji Yayi Akorede, for being truthful in his recent sermon, portraying the real pictures of events. These cabal members are currently stealing heavily from the state and are alleged to be using forged signatures of the governor and his name to perpetrate these preventable evils. These Ondo state’s fathers had served Nigeria and the state in various capacities in the past. They shouldn’t end the last part of history this way. They need to call on our President to do the needful because they will be blamed if this falsehood by the cabal sails through unchecked and the future of the state is bastardized.
