In a stunning move, a Finland-based self-acclaimed activist named Simon Ekpa has declared himself the new prime minister of Biafra, secessionist movement in southeastern Nigeria.
Ekpa’s announcement comes at a time when the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, remains in prison on charges of treason.
Kanu’s supporters have long been calling for his release, and many are now expressing anger and frustration that Ekpa has taken the liberty of declaring himself prime minister in Kanu’s absence.
