The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has passed into first reading three executive bills in order to regulate the operations of private schools and boost skills training in the state.
Speaker Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe announced the passage of the bills on Monday during plenary in Lafia.
The bills include, A Bill For a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia and other Matters Connected Therewith, A Bill for A Law to Amend College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State Law 2020 and Matters Connected Thereof and A Bill for a Law to Regulate the Establishment and Operation of Private Nursery, Primary, Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions in Nasarawa State and Other Matters Connected Therewith.
The Speaker slated “2nd October, 2023 for the second reading of A Bill For a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia and other Matters Connected Therewith.
“I will slate 3rd October, 2023 for the second reading of A Bill for A Law to Amend College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State Law 2020 and Matters Connected Thereof.
“I will also slate 4th October, 2023 for the second reading of A Bill for a Law to Regulate the Establishment and Operation of Private Nursery, Primary, Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions in Nasarawa State and Other Matters Connected Therewith,” Balarabe said.
Earlier, Mohammed Adamu Omadefu (APC, Keana), the Majority Leader of the House moved motions for the bills to scale first readings.
The Minority Leader of the House, Luka Iliya Zhekaba (PDP, Obi II) seconded the motion for passage.
