The Imo State Police Command has apprehended a 40-year-old man, Uchenna Okpara, for allegedly stabbing his in-law, Uchenna Unakalamba, to death during a dispute in Ubomiri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area. The argument, reportedly involving their children, escalated, leading Okpara to attack Unakalamba with a broken bottle. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, and the suspect is in custody pending further investigation.
Additionally, police arrested Ozioma Dike, a suspected ringleader of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in Ubomiri, Ogbaku, and Ohii communities within Mbaitoli LGA. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation in Agwa, Oguta LGA, during which Dike was captured after an exchange of gunfire, while other gang members fled.
Recovered items included a pump-action rifle with live ammunition and an iPhone belonging to a kidnapping victim. Dike remains in custody and is set to face prosecution after investigations are concluded.
Imo Police Commissioner CP Aboki Danjuma reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating violent crimes and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
