Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has sent a condolence message to Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe aka K1 De Ultimate, over the death of his mother and ex-wife.
The 67-year-old Fuji musician lost his centenarian mother, Alhaja Halimot Anifowoshe, days after his ex-wife, Alhaja Hafsat Anifowoshe passed away after battling an undisclosed illness.
While his mother died at the age of 105, his ex-wife passed away at the age of 65.
Sympathizing with the Fuji artist, Obi, in a statement on Sunday, January 19, 2025, described his mother and ex-wife’s death as tragic.
He said, “On behalf of my family, I sincerely sympathise with the popular Fuji maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), who recently suffered a double bereavement. The reported deaths of his ex-wife, Alhaja Hafsat Ajoke Anifowoshe, and his mother, Alhaja Halima Shadiya Anifowoshe, within a few days, are indeed tragic.
“I commiserate with him and his entire family during this challenging period of mourning. May Almighty Allah grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, forgive the sins of the departed, and grant them eternal rest.”
Obi’s condolence message came barely 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu reached out to the musician via a phone call to commiserate with him.
Sharing the video of their telephone conversation on Instagram, KI wrote: “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria called to commiserate with the King of Fuji Music.”
