Erling Haaland has penned a new 10-year contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2034. The 24-year-old Norwegian striker, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has been integral to the club’s recent triumphs.
Originally signed until 2027, this new agreement highlights City’s belief in Haaland’s crucial role in their long-term success.
Haaland expressed his excitement over the extension, stating, “I’m really happy to have signed my new contract and look forward to spending even more time at this great club.” He praised the environment at Manchester City for bringing out the best in players and emphasized his commitment to further improvement and future achievements.
Since his arrival, Haaland has been a revelation, scoring a record 52 goals in his debut season, the most by a Premier League player in a single campaign. His goals were pivotal to City’s historic treble-winning season, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles. Haaland also won multiple individual awards, including PFA Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Year.
Despite a brief injury setback in 2023/24, Haaland continued to excel, scoring 38 goals in 45 matches, including a second consecutive Golden Boot in the Premier League. He has already netted 21 goals in the current 2024/25 season, taking his total to 111 goals in 126 appearances for the club.
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Haaland’s impact and professionalism, noting that the long-term contract reflects both the club’s commitment to him and his dedication to continuous improvement.
