Thirty-two-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has been remanded in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia for the muurder of his alleged girlfriend, 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu.
Salome, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, was ki1lled when she visited Ajayi at his home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.
According to Channels Television, Ajayi was apprehended on January 12 while attempting to dispose of Salome’s he@d after allegedly dismember1ng her body.
He was paraded by the Nasarawa State Police alongside the weapons—a knife and machetes—used in the crime.
In an exclusive interview, Ajayi admitted to kiill1ng Salome, stating it was not premeditated but resulted from the couple’s strained relationship.
“I kiilled her because we don’t have each other all the time.
It wasn’t planned. It just happened,” he explained. He claimed to have discovered Salome was cheating on him after reading her phone messages with other men, which led to his violent reaction.
When asked if he had any regrets, Ajayi replied, “No. Life is reciprocal.
If you do something to someone, you must understand what they are going through.”
He emphasized that he felt no remorse because he believed they were “compatible.”
Salome’s family, however, expressed shock and disbelief over the relationship.
Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, stated, “We didn’t know him.
We had never met him until we were informed that he murdered and dismembered our sister.”
She demanded justice for the brutal crime.
