In a bid to resolve the longstanding interstate boundary dispute between Cross River and Abia States, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, arrived at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar on Monday, ahead of a two-day meeting of officials on Cross River/Abia State Interstate Boundary.
On arrival, Engr. Emetu was warmly received by the Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Chris Ojikpong, alongside the Surveyor-General of Cross River State, Surveyor Patrick Bassey, Director-General of the State Border Commission (BorderCom), Hon. Chief Ngim Okpo, and appointees from the Deputy Governor’s office.
The meeting, scheduled to take place from Tuesday, December 10, to Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar, will bring together key stakeholders, and these includes the Deputy Governors of both states, who serve as Chairmen of their respective State Boundary Committees (SBC), representatives from the National Boundary Commission (NBC), and other critical stakeholders from Cross River and Abia States.
