Police in Akwa Ibom State have confirmed the k!lling of a driver and abdùction of one Samuel Ekerenam, a Chevron worker, in the Eket Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John said yesterday the v!ctim was abdùcted on Saturday November 23 at about pm within his Hephzibah Shopping Mall in Eket.
She explained that the gùnmen had sh0t sporadically to scare people away and then k!lled his personal driver, demoralized his police escort before whisking away their v!ctim.
“The Commissioner for Police, CP Joseph Eribo and his tactical commanders have visited the scene of the cr!me and efforts are on top gear to rescue the v!ctim unhùrt,” John said.
A family source, who pleaded anonymity told newsmen yesterday that the abdùctors were yet to contact the family, adding, “We are yet to ascertain the motive of the k!dnappers whether the man was seized for ransom or other motive because they are yet to contact the family.”
The family source who further disclosed that the v!ctim is a pastor and staff of Chevron staff noted that he returned from work that same day he was abdùcted
Journalists recalls that the v!ctim’s wife, Mrs Glory Ekerenam was k!dnapped in Eket on October 17, 2019 and kept at the k!dnapper’s den at Ikot Ubo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of the state.
