Veteran Nollywood actor Stephen Alajemba, popularly known as Uwaezuoke, has stirred public debate with his controversial statements on marriage. In a recent interview with Ugwumba TV, Alajemba claimed that it is a sin and a risk for a man to marry only one or two wives.
According to the actor, if a man marries just one wife, his life would be in danger. He went further to say that if a man marries two wives, the wives are likely to conspire against him, even going so far as to poison him.
Alajemba stated, “It’s a sin to marry one or two wives. But if you marry three or four, you will be free from sin. If you marry one wife, your life is at risk. The safety of the director is in the hands of the security. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you.”
He added that marrying more than two wives would allow each wife to have her space and role, with the man simply providing for them, taking turns with meals and bedrooms.
The actor’s comments have sparked a mix of reactions from Nigerians, with some agreeing with him, while others have criticized his views as outdated and harmful.
