Fela Durotoye has revealed that he served as Senior Special Assistant on National Values and Social Justice for President Bola Tinubu without compensation.
This statement came in response to criticism directed at the President following the recent appointment of Daniel Bwala as Special Adviser during a time of significant economic challenges in Nigeria.
Durotoye, who was included in a contentious list of 13 members of Tinubu’s media team, clarified in an opinion piece published on Monday that he worked for six months without receiving any salary.
He emphasized that he had made it clear upon accepting the role that he did not wish to be paid, viewing his service as a contribution to his country.
Throughout his tenure, which lasted from October 2023 to March 2024, he did not accept any government funds for his services or related expenses.
