The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to present the Certificate of Return to Ondo State Governor-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
According to Sahara Reporters, this follows Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the recently concluded gubernatorial election. The presentation ceremony will take place at the INEC state headquarters in Akure.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State confirmed the schedule, stating:
“The Certificate of Return will be issued to the Governor-elect and the Deputy Governor-elect in compliance with electoral guidelines.”
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner after securing a majority of the votes. His victory is seen as a mandate to continue his party’s governance in the state.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have raised concerns about the election’s credibility, but INEC insists the process was free and fair. Aiyedatiwa has urged his opponents to join hands with his administration to advance the state’s development.
