With a high voter turnout, the Ondo State Governorship Election got underway at 8:30 am on Saturday in the Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West LGAs.
At some of the polling places that NAN visited, INEC officials were observed participating in voter services.
Elections started at 8:30 am in Iyometa Ward 1, Unit 1; Iyometa Ward 2, Unit 007 and Ikado Ward 2, Unit 5 in Ikare-Akoko; and at Ugbe Akoko, Ward 3, Unit 2.
Vincent Ugboma, the Presiding Officer (PO) of Ikado Ward 1, Unit 001, told the NAN that the BVAS glitch caused a slight delay, but that the problem has been resolved.
Voters began to turn out in force, according to Ugboma, who also mentioned that by 9:00 am, more than 50 people had been accredited and cast ballots in the unit.
“The electorate is large; the unit must be divided into two so that the electoral officials can manage it effectively,” he stated.
