Ex-Reps member Classic announces exit from PDP in Zamfara, citing new political directions. Get the latest updates on Zamfara’s shifting political landscape.
Honorable Kabiru Yahaya Classic, a former member of the House of Representatives, has transitioned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection was publicly announced on Thursday following discussions with state APC Chairman Alhaji Tukur Danfulani and Alhaji Lawal M Liman, Chairman of the Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Political Organization, along with other APC stakeholders from Zamfara in Kaduna.
Classic, who served the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023 under the PDP, indicated that he is bringing the entire PDP structure from Talata Mafara Local Government Area, which includes the local executive committee and ten out of eleven ward chairmen, into the APC.
He cited a lack of justice and fairness within the Zamfara PDP as his reason for leaving.
Upon welcoming Classic, Danfulani expressed enthusiasm for the defection, indicating it as a positive development for the APC and assuring all defectors of equitable treatment within the party.
Alhaji Lawal M Liman also praised Classic and the other defectors for their decision to join the progressive movement.
