Rivers State will host an extraordinary session of the ECOWAS Parliament in February 2025, marking the first time this assembly is held in Southern Nigeria.
-An ECOWAS inspection team, led by Nigerian lawmaker Awaji-Inombek Abiante, visited the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt to assess its readiness for the event.
-Abiante highlighted the event’s economic potential for Rivers State, suggesting it could attract investments and provide business opportunities while promoting cultural exchange.
-Secretary-General Bertin Some expressed satisfaction with the facilities in Port Harcourt, including accommodation, meeting venues, and transportation, confirming the city’s readiness.
-The inspection team included ECOWAS officials, such as the Secretary-General, the Head of Infrastructure Division, and the Clerk of Committees, emphasizing the importance of the event for regional integration and growth.
