The Nigerian government introduces free Cesarean sections for pregnant women to ensure safer births and improve maternal health outcomes nationwide.
The Nigerian government has declared that Cesarean Sections will now be offered at no cost to women in need, a decision made on Thursday. This initiative aims to address the high maternal mortality rate in the country.
Muhammad Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, announced this development during the ongoing three-day Nigeria Health Sector-Wide Joint Annual Review in Abuja.
He emphasized that this initiative represents a significant commitment to decreasing maternal and newborn mortality rates throughout Nigeria.
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare confirmed the announcement via a tweet, highlighting that no woman should face the risk of losing her life due to financial constraints related to C-sections.
