Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared three days of mourning to honor the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. During this period, flags across the state will be flown at half-mast.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, in a statement released on Thursday in Osogbo.
Alimi also stated that condolence registers have been opened at both the Government House and the Governor’s Office, allowing residents of Osun to express their sympathy.
“The passing of the late COAS is a profound loss to both humanity and our nation,” Alimi said. “His legacy will not be forgotten. This is a painful loss for Osun State, and we extend our deepest condolences to the Lagbaja family of Ilobu, the Olobu of Ilobu, and all those affected.”
The mourning period will commence on Thursday, November 7, 2024, and conclude on Saturday, November 9. The condolence registers will offer the public a chance to reflect on and honor the memory of the late COAS, who passed away at the age of 56.
Alimi concluded by praying for the late General Lagbaja’s soul, asking, “May Allah grant him eternal peace in Aljanna Firdaus. Ameen.”
