APC Chieftain Advises Tinubu to Avoid Kano Political Crisis with NNPP, Kwankwasiyya
APC chieftain cautions Tinubu to maintain distance from the NNPP-Kwankwasiyya crisis in Kano, citing possible political fallout.
As the crisis within Kano’s New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) intensifies with House of Representatives members Ali Madakin Gini and Alhassan Rirum departing from the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, a leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned President Bola Tinubu to refrain from getting involved.
The warning came after a meeting between Tinubu and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya.
It was reported that Kwankwaso initiated the meeting.
In a statement released to the press in Kano on Monday, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso expressed concerns about an early morning meeting between President Tinubu and Kwankwaso. He noted that no photographs of Kwankwaso were permitted at the Presidential venue, which has raised their suspicions regarding the nature of this meeting.
Kwankwaso likely hurried to President Tinubu out of concern that his key supporters are gradually abandoning him. The President should be aware that Kwankwaso may not be trustworthy.
In 2023, SSG Bichi, Rirum, Madakin Gini, and Senator Kawu Sumaila played crucial roles in securing the victory for the NNPP/Abba Kabir Yusuf government. Now that they are departing, Kwankwaso is deeply concerned about their actions.
The former two-time Commissioner for Rural Development stated, “Kwankwaso knows he is losing support; that’s why he shamelessly went to the President. We advise our esteemed President Tinubu to be cautious of whatever Kwankwaso says.”
The conflict within Kwankwasiyya today in Kano is a decisive battle. We, as members of the APC, should congratulate ourselves rather than feel sorry for them because it clearly signifies a victory for us in the 2027 general elections.
